The painting shows the Amsterdam harbour with the central part of the city in the background as it looked in the 60's The ships which are shown on the IJ are: The Wijsmuller Tug Cycloop, the KNSM cargoship Ganymedes, with assistance from two harbour tugs, the trainingship Prinses Beatrix and a Belgian Spits (river cargoship).

ARKADIA

Sempre tive uma "simpatia" pelos navios da Greek Line. Gostava de os ver chegar ao porto do Funchal, altura em que Arkadia, Queen Anna Maria ou Olympia embelezavam a nossa baía.

FERRY AURELLA - VIKING LINE

Dear friends and customers,

in a few weeks time we will deliver our new model, the German build, Finnish owned ferry "Aurella".

Due to efficience in production we had to deliver her later versions first, as the ship was rebuild when sold.

So for us it was better to make the new mould fromt he unrebuild original ship later on.

The model will cost roughly 93,00 Eurond will appear with a sprayed hull and a lot of lettering.

Pictures of a pre-series can be found attached.

Please tell your dealor soon in case You want to order a model, to make enable him to calculate his order.

LAKONIA - FAZ HOJE 50 ANOS

Faz hoje 50 anos que a Madeira vivia um dos dias mais tristes com a noticia do afundamento do navio Lakonia da Greek Line. Um dia inesquecível que me marcou por se encontrar a bordo um amigo meu.
Na foto, a criança resgatada  Patricia Websiter chegou a Londres com os seus inseparáveis bonecos.

TEMPESTADES E TEMPESTADES

A propósito de tempestades na Madeira e neste caso na Baía do Funchal, algumas imagens de 1963.

Para os mais cépticos que passam a vida a dizer que nunca se viu nada assim... possivelmente ou têm memória curta ou serão mais novos e nunca se deram à maçada de pesquisar sobre a matéria. Tempestades sempre aconteceram! O problema é não se aprender nada com os erros. Errar todos erram, errar muitas vezes é burrice! E parece que uma vez mais não se salvaguardou nem se preveniu situações. Mais ainda, está a construir-se um novo cais que irá causar muitos dissabores. Oxalá esteja enganado...
